From February through May each year, the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League (AFL) play home games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
Playing their first season in 2008, Atlanta Dream plays Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) home games at the Philips Arena.
Formed in 1876 as the Red Stockings from Boston, the Braves came to be in Atlanta in 1966. Home turf for the Braves is the Turner Field, which combines a state-of-the-art sports facility with the sentimental atmosphere of old time baseball.
The East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Gwinnett Gladiators are affiliated with the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Gladiators' season is played from October through April each year.
Atlanta obtained its own NHL franchise in 1997, and named the team the Atlanta Thrashers in 1998. The team plays home games in the Philips Arena, a state-of-the-art facilty. Tickets may be purchased online, by phone, and in person.
This professional football team plays at least ten games at home in the Georgia Dome. The facility has also hosted a Super Bowl, events from the 1996 Olympic Games, and several other competitions. Located west of downtown Atlanta.
Originally established in 1949, the Hawks NBA team moved to Atlanta in 1968. Plenty of action is guaranteed at Philips Arena during regular season games between October and June.
